Just picking winners no score line predictions and no goal outcomes. Take it to your bookie at your own risk.
Sheff Utd v Liverpool, Liverpool haven’t won an openning league game since Benitez became manager. This is one game he wont accept to loose. Sheffield are probably the weakest team in the league and their strike force wont match the strength of the Reds back four. This will be a passionate encounter though and we may see goalless first half but Liverpool will win this comfortably in the end.
Arsenal v Aston Villa The first League game at the Emirates stadium, Arsenal will be psyched up and revving, Villa will have a blitz in their hands. Count the goals as Arsenal pick their first 3 points.
Everton v Watford, Watford will have a problem containing Arteta, Cahill and Johnson. Their first game in the league and it’s away from home we can expect a great and passionate start but Everton will take control and pick up the points.
Newcastle v Wigan Newcastle dont have their first choice striker and wont have him for a long time. Ameobi, Duff and Nzogbia will have to come up with the goals. Wigan’s defence is quite solid but upfront Heskey will have to proove he can score goals. Scrappy game, Newcastle will get the most chances, they should atleast get a goal in.
Portsmouth v Blackburn, Pompey have a solid defence and with Kanu and Lualua, the attack isn’t so bad. The real battle will be in mid-field where Blackburn will rule and keep the ball. A point apiece
Reading v Middlesbrough Boro’s strike force too much for Reading. 3 points for Southgate he needs them and in Yakubu and Downing he can trust.
West Ham v Charlton Westham have a great strike force but a couple of injuries in other positions could cost them. A game of 2 halves ?
Bolton v Tottenham Probably the toughest game this weekend. Both teams have big ambitions and none will want to loose the ball. A midfield tussle, a couple of yellow cards and a dissapointing draw for Martin Jol

Chelsea v Man City, Chelsea to win. The City defense has seen some changes and it many take a game or two before they gel.
Man Utd v Fulham, Fulham hasn’t changed much and they struggled last season, this will be no different. Man Utd rarely dont loose the first game of the league. Utd to win quite easily.
